Johnny spent 2 years working with The Elumenati, an Immersive Projection Design firm based in Asheville, NC. The Elumenati hold a unique patent on a fisheye projection lens, capable of filling an entire dome (or room) at 180 degrees FOV, and always in focus, no matter the distance from the lens. Johnny’s role as ‘raster master’ was to develop realtime dome projection software and also marketing to new markets outside the realm of planetaria and simulation (such as live production).
We were involved in many projects during this time including a massive geodesic dome projection at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC as well as Siggraph Los Angeles partnering with nVidia graphics. The Elumenati became initially became interested in Johnny’s talents after he built the world’s first “Molecularium” at the Junior Museum in Troy, NY with a grant from the National Science Foundation.
