Be Johnny is a video design studio that creates multi-media projects for entertainment, art & architecture. We focus on the creation of spectacular moving images and pioneering new forms of cross disciplinary practices. We have shown our work at prestigous institutions and festivals such as New York Film & Video Festival, Transmediale, Coachella, Dutch Electronic Arts Festival, Museum of the Moving Image, Menil Collection and Kiasma.  We have performed live with musicians such as Sasha & Digweed, The Glitch Mob, Eminem, Thomas Dolby and Dream Theater.  Be Johnny is comprised of Bree Edwards and Johnny DeKam.

Bree Edwards – Executive Producer

Bree’s background includes curating Contemporary Art, writing for arts publications, racing snowboards and touring the world as a Videographer. Bree is a native New Yorker who received a BA in Urban Archeology from the Institute for Social Ecology at Goddard College and a MA from The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College.  She is at the helm of our projects, managing client relations, research and production while developing new applications for our work.

Johnny DeKam – Creative Director

Johnny is the creative mastermind behind our work. He is an internationally acclaimed video artist, VJ and software designer. In 1998 he founded the software company VIDVOX which designs software tools for live video production used by thousands of artists worldwide.  Johnny holds a BFA in painting from Wayne State University in Detroit and an MFA in Electronic Art from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
